Apparently the firmware has been causing a few PS3's to stop reading discs. I've been problem free since updating to 2.42. How's about you guys?

Is it actually burning out the lasers or is it a bug? And did it actually start with 2.42 or 2.40, it might not have surfaced until 2.42.

Every time a firmware comes out and the ps3 stops reading disc people are quick to say it was the firmware. I only know of one true killer firmware and that was 2.00 and COD4. I had countless people on my friends list that simply fell of for a couple of weeks. I only know one person that has had a bricked ps3 with the new firmwares and he did get it with 2.41, but he ran folding at home whenever he wasn't playing a game. His PS3 had thousands of hours on it. I am happy to say that my launch 60 gig ps3 is still in excellent working order.
