I have a phat psp and the firmwar is 3.80 m33-5 i am guessing that is CFW correct.

Is it true all i have to do is hit network update and it will update my psp to the lastest CFW? If I hit network update wont that install the legit firmware on my psp not the CFW?

Please clarify thank yuo

the network update is set to use D_A website from that cfw, so you will be fine

however, you could always download the latest cfw from his site and install manually...

as you have a fat psp (not Slim) then there is a 1.5 kernel addon that allows 1.5fw homebrew to run - depends if you use homebrew or not

you don't need this addon

you do need to visit D_A's site though :)

nope, no need for the addon for you

m33 cfw plays isos and csos without it

Nope those are considered Emulators and you do not need 1.5 kernel. The 1.5 Kernel is only needed for homebrew.
And yes you do have CFW-Custom Firmware

hell yea then i will install this when i get home woot. Also what is an example of homebrew for the psp. Im thinking the whole time homebrew was playing backup games or the nes emulators.

Maybe someone can provide me with a link so i can see some of these programs or just shed some light for me.

thank you

Homebrew are home made games and apps which may not have anything to do with old roms or psp games. They are much like custom flash games you can play on the internet.

Open your eyes to a new world :) and go here to look at some examples:
http://pspupdates.qj.net/category/Homebrew-Games/cid/62

there you will find a lot of fun and useful games and apps etc.

i have to disagree there...homebrew is independant coded apps including emulators

some emulators only run on the 1.5 kernal, BUT most have been updated to run on 3.xx or 4.xx kernal

I agree with Buzzard, It was just tricky to find the right words in order to explain what Homebrew is exactly.
But you've found the perfect word combo lol

And now I've run into a problem myself trying to install the homebrew game called squarez. I need help lol. I have 4.01 M33-2 with 1.5 kernel add-on. Yet when i place the game in any game or gamexxx folder I get the message stating the data is corrupt on my psp. Can you help me out bu22ard?
