Hi everyone im Mike im completeley new to PSP modding and playing. believe it or not i have a degree in computer science and games development, but it put me off games programming for life im an agricultural engineer now i'm just gunna stick to playing games i think.

in short my question is how do i play FF crisis core CSO on my psp?

its 1.5 firmware with with devhook 2.71 is all i know (thats how it came to me second hand with a load of old games and ISOs that play fine). anyway i loaded up crisis core CSO as i do my other games and it says i need to upgrade to version 3.95. now ive browsed a bit but im having no luck really understanding what i can and cant do, im not an idiot and i guess upgrading 3.95 wont help me? i guess i need to go onto this custom firmware? theres a guide on the sticky thread here but no mention of 3.95 on the guide so i havent done anything yet. should i follow this guide and will it allow me to play crisis core and other ISO/CSO games off my memory stick if i do? is this guide like upto date or are there newere versions or custom firware i should be installing .and whats this 1.5 kernal thats mentioned do i need that to play the games on my memory card?

you will need a higher fw to play ccffvii, and i don't recommend using ofw :)

you need to visit Dark_Alex wensite

from 1.5, first install 3.52-m33 and from there you can go to the latest 4.01-m33 (and then 4.01-m33-2, the small update to this)

the readme for 3.52m33 is clear, and from there simply update to 4.01m33

Thanks for that. very helpful, giving it a go right now.

how come you have to go through the 3.52 then onto 4.01 and you cant just stick the highest one straight on there? just out of interst


edit sorry to ask again do i need the 1.5 kernel for mine ? whats that all about or is that for runnin glike old programs that wont run on the newer firmware? thanks
