Wii Shop Channel update

I purchased this used Wii modded console 2 weeks ago and it plays backup games without any problems and I got with the console WiiKey Boot DVD 1.2 and the firmware is 3.2U .
When I select Wii Shop Channel I get the following message:
"There is an update to the Wii Shop Channel! To receive this update go to Wii Setting and Select Wii System update".
Is it safe to do this update through Wii? Do I need to update to other version?

update via internet is the safest way. Wiishop is asking you to update, so you can download and play Wiiware games.

Do I need to update 1.9 and config 1.4? and How?
