I am trying to figure out what happened.
After having my Wii off for a day or so. I went back to playing a backup of Zack and Wiki Quest...
But it gave me a cannot read disk error.
So I figured put one origional disk in.
This too was giving me a cannot read disk error.
I didnt see what version of the wii I was running but figured I would update to the newest version. Now it is at Version 3.3U.
I also have a wiikey latest version loaded as well.

Even tried some of my gamecube disks and those show error as well.

I am not sure why it all of a sudden decided to stop working. I do not believe I updated anything since the last time I played a back up.
As well as no in game updates.

Any ideas how to start playing or fix this?

Latest update
has nothing to do with modchip or firmware

I took apart my Wii and found out that the disc was not spinning.
After manually "helping" it spin.
Everything works fine.

Is there any way to get this to move easier if it is sticking.
I keep my wii in top shape, and it is odd to have this happen.
Insides are very clean and out.

once I got it spinning once , I didnt have an issue again.
but as a precaution I am making sure I eject disks when not in use, as well as not leave something on pause for days on end.

The disk never started spinning.
I could see that it was idol, once I got it spinning everything was fine.
Only thing I had to do is give it a push start.
If you are having a problem with it stopping spinning . Then it is a totally different issue.
Sounds like you may have a laser problem, or possible a cleaning problem.
If you have a wiikey, and having it stop after starting to spin. Make sure your wiikey is up to date with the latest version.

Also mention what firmware you are running on your wii.

Step one
Open up wii

Step two
look at cd

Step three
watch it trying to spin

Step four
give it a little help with finger

Step five
watch it spin.

Step six
eject disc

Step seven
insert disc to recheck if working

Step eight
re-insertion working

Step nine
eject disc

Step ten
re- assemble wii

Step eleven
re- insert game

Step twelve
play game

Ok all I really did is give it a little push with a finger, on the top side.
this is all it took to get the thing spinning again.

I did do this when it was on.
Before doing anything I checked connections to see if there was a loose wire.

Everything looked good and for some reason it was just trying to spin but not getting very far.

I haven't had any issues since.

And always be careful when opening up a wii , because there is a lot of things that can go wrong.

Still unsure why it wasn't spinning, seems like a strange occurrence.

rehash.
While playing a game all of a sudden disc stoppped spinning.
I figured it was sticking again, so took it apart and it was harder to get disc moving.

So took apart top cover of drive, when I finally got the game spinning it never clicked into high speed.

It just stuck in low speed spin and gave a console error.
Is this a sign of a bad motor?
