I was a new wii user and was looking for guide. Kind of disappointed to find all the tutorial mentioned about LG's Drive, rawdump, etc. Since I don't have all those, I decide to just give my Lite-ON drive a try and use only my NERO burning software. It worked! I'll put some detail in the specs, so just incase it is only me or this specs work.
All I am using are:
NERO Burning ROM 8.1.1.4 (i'll be specific)
LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H (original manufacturer firmware, didn't change)
Memorex DVD-R 16x (from 100 disc spindle from Bestbuy, typical)
Windows XP Pro SP3 (probably doesn't matter, but i'll be specific)
I put in the original Wii Disc into my LITE-ON Drive. Open up NERO Burning ROM 8.1.1.4. Close the wizard windows. then choose 'recorder -> disc copy' at the top tab.
under read option: i choose user defined. Error correction set to fast reading without error correction (fast and unsafe). handling of non-correctable read errors set to "ignore"
under burn tap -> set write and finalized. burning speed to 2x only. with Disc at once.
Then I simply hit 'OK' to start reading first. after it copy the NRGimage into my harddrive (took about 5 minutes), it asked for the blank DVD. I put in a Memorex DVD-R 16x disc (from 100 disc spindle from bestbuy) it burn at 2x speed for about 22 minutes.
total time is around 27minutes or let say 30minutes per disc. I tried backing up 3 of them, about 1.5 hours. Much shorter than what the typical tutorial was saying just the rawdump took about 2.5 hours.
All 3 discs work on my wii (mod'ed with wiikey). Playable, no error, no problem. finished 2 of the games out of the 3. 3rd one bored me to death: deca sport.
Games are: Deca Sport, One piece, and Bomberman Land.
Also tried on resident evil and super paper mario recently. both also playable. i don't think it will give me error since it didn't for the first 3 games. Will complete the game and see, but i doubt it.
Interesting, I have always just taken it for granted that the Lg drive requirement was true. If what you are saying is true then maybe I will give my drive a go when I get my originals back.
Yeah. They are original discs. My LITE-ON won't recognize the disc either. I put it in and it won't load up from my Drive. but it won't eject it either. just showing no disc in the drive. But i just simply open up my nero and click on disc copy, it still read from it. I tried using isobuster, it read from it also, but created a bad image. I tried poweriso and magic iso, they both can't read it all togheter, giving me an error message.
Oh yeah, i also tried rawdump, giving me a faulty drive message.
