I have quite a few machines so I went hunting with the intent of flashing my ms28 samsung. The VIA board is rather old...over a year and while it has the VIA chipset, when I check in hex workshop only the chipset identifier code is correct, the i/o port identifier and the port that sata 1 uses is not correct in the mtkflash. I found the same problem with the Nforce, (trying it with an Abit Fatality 1 board as its NForce 4 (I believe a 520 series). Its really hard to find ICH5,ICH6 NForce 2 or 3. Those boards are way too old and the with the new ICH7 I am sure I would have the same problem. I edited the mtkflash file (before doing so when I booted off floppy nothing would happen, never got the option for master/or slave. ) After adding information specific to my SATA ports found in system information, which required only correcting 4 placemarkers. Now I can see the samsung in my bios, (does not show up in windows), when I give the command mtkflash r /m orig.bin I get the option to select master or slave, I select master as its on sata 1 port and it just hangs there showing me the i/o port which by the way is correct in the mtkflash file that I edited. I am at a loss. I read that it is difficult to get the ms28 visable but surely shorting out wiring and removing chips is a bit extreme!!! There has to be another way, I figured out most the coding within mtkflash through hexworkshop and don't think that is where my problem is, but I am rust on hex haven't needed to use since hacking playstation 1 games to avoid a mod chip! All help would be greatly appreciated!
