Ok, I purchased a D2Pro modchip, installed it. Is there a way to tell before closing up unit if modchip is actually working? I have tried 2 games that I downloaded the slow way (torrent) and burned on ImgBurn at 2.4 speed and one at max speed. Neither works. I get "cannot read disc" message when I insert the games. I have no games that are burned that I know for sure worksm to try. Anyone know where I can get a game to test on my unit. Any suggestions on what to try next? I did try my game that came with my unit and it works. I assume that my original game would work with a unit that has a modchip, is that correct?
I have read everything I could on burning wii games, manual, guides etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yep originals will still work on a modded console. What media did you use to burn the discs? Cheap brand discs may not work.

I am TY-G02 Taiyo Yuden Dvd-r. I have tried 4.0, 2.4, max speed. Is there a paticular brand that is better? I have no way to test modchip which is a D2Pro solderless. Does the modchip flash or blink or anything if it is working? Do you know of anyplace I can borrow or buy a game to test the unit? thanks for your help.

Well the discs do not seem to be the problem unless your Wii does not like DVD-Rs which then you can try Taiyo Yuden DVD+Rs.
Yes the chip's LEDs are supposed to blink when it reads the disc.

I just tried TDK -R and got the same results. I really don't think it is the media, as I burn movies all the time, no coasters. What speed do you use? Also any ideas where I can test someone's backed up copy to test my modchip?
Does modchip blink or do anything special that would signal it is working?

Will the modchip itself blink? When I put the modchip in, I didn't really get a click sound, but pushed as hard as I dared, as not to break the unit. Should I have gotten a clicking sound upon installing?
I am going to open it back up and see what happens, if it blinks or not. Any other input would be appreciated.

I personally use Taiyo Yuden DVD+Rs with a max speed of 8X and burn with ImgBurn at 4X speed.
The modchip's LEDs should blink when it reads the backup/original. Did you secure the WiiClip down with some electrical tape?

No I placed the cardboard that came with the unit, no electrical tape. I will try that. It is a solderless D2Pro that goes over a part. Do you know if it should click?
If this doesn't work any other ideas?

Well I've never used a WiiClip myself. I always just use wires so I have no experience with the WiiClip. Just using common sense here lol.
Well like I said try putting electrical tape over the WiiClip to secure it down and try using DVD+Rs.

Hi M,
Lately I installed a modchip with clip.
It just goes over the original chip and no, it doesn't click. Just check if is is pushed tight to the board with the original chip underneath.
The cardboard piece is needed as isolation.
I experience similar problems as you. Didn't succeed in burning a backup game either. Fortunately I asked my seller to send me a copied disk to check the chip and he did.
I tried burning on TDK+R TDK-R with Nero and ImgBurn. After dozens of lost disks I bought myself EMTEC-RW's. Still without success. I use an LG GSA-E10L USB burner. Next thing to try is to go over to a friend an use his burner.

When you used the burned gamed from the dealer did it work with your modded unit? Did you ever get a burned game to work? If so what media did you end up using? Thanks for the input, still trying to find a backup/copied game to try in my unit. I have tried many different speeds. I am using ImgBurn, do I have to use any special settings on ImgBurn?

Yes, it worked as the original games also.
Regarding the settings in ImgBurn; Í didn't succeed so far so we can only hope one of the Forum specialists joins in. But from what I collected on info so far I understand that settings don't matter. The only thing to set is the burning speed (as low as possible).
