Hi,
i am sorry if this question has been posted somewhere before, i got tired of searching. just redirect me to another thread if you want, thanks.

So i have a psp with 1.5 firmware (original) and i wanted to upgrade it to a 4.01 following this guide "1 Stop Guide to 3.52 M33/3.71 M33/3.80 M33/3.90 M33/4.01 M33 Custom Firmware + Updates & Add On's." i found here.

Everything went smoothly until i had installed 3.52 M33-4 update, after which i was never able to get to the menu screen(no menu icons appear). The Sony logo appears and disappears, then there is only the menu background.

How do i continue or how do i just restore it to 1.5? Or is it bricked? then what do i do?

Thanks

Bad CRC FLash, its semi-bricked, this happened allot with 3.52 CFW.

when you do a cold boot hold down the right trigger, you should get a text menu. now you'll get some options. now try the option run program at/PSP/Recovery/eboot.php. if that doesn't work hook your psp up to a computer then select toggle usb. create a path if it doesn't already exist Called "where X is root maybe be deferent" X:/PSP/Recovery/

now there are some thing you can do.
1) since your on 3.52 M33 do an immediate upgrade to 3.80 M33 or 3.90 M33. no if your only intrest is to play homebrew or PS1 i recommend a fallback to 3.03 CFW, this was simply the best FW for the task.

if thats the option you wish you can follow the read me and compile what you need to upgrade and stick it in recovery.

or you can simply find a 1.50 FW and rename it to Eboot.php and stick in in recovery then try again. if this is the route you want i highly recommend you skip the 3.52 M33 and go strait for 3.03 CFW or 3.7x M33.

ill keep in touch.

Thanks for answering

I forgot to mention that I can only get access to the sony logo intro and then the following menu background by going through the recovery menu ("format flash1 and reset settings"). When starting the psp normally, it just shows a black screen.
Another thing: upon entering the background screen, the psp doesnt freeze, as the the background is changing; and i can access the MM33 Vsh menu by clicking the home button.
The 3.52 CFW was installed and worked before i installed the 3.52 M33-4 update and got this problem.

Whenever i run X:/PSP/GAME/Recovery/eboot.pbp from the recovery menu, with the EBOOT.pbp correctly placed and named, the screen turns black. I turn it off and on again, and nothing has changed.

edit: it is a psp fat

I used the recovery folder found on this site, and followed the instructions for psp with 3.52 CTW. It is now working and the firmware is 1.5.

Thanks daxter000 and DXR88 for answering. also i would like to know if what i did is something you dont recommend.

DXR88, could you please redirect to a guide youll recommend to install the 3.03 CFW as i will indeed use it to play homebrew and ps1. also must i use devhook or irshell to load game images?
sorry for all the questions, just answer briefly. thanks again

If opting for a higher CFW skip 3.52 there are problems associated with it for some psp's.
