I'm making DVD's with the new Sony standalone recorder RDR-GX7, and they look good and play on both computers and another set top player. Trying to copy with Nero --- after copying the files into video_ts and click on Burn I get the error message "DVD-video files compliance test failed", and there's a choice to try anyway or not - I tried anyway and the result doesn't play in anything. Never had a problem before in using Nero this way from DVD's I authored or made with a standalone.

any suggestions as to how to remedy this?

thanks, Joey

Pete, I didn't rip them - I created them from tape with a standalone DVD recorder. Then I copied the files in the video_ts folder into Nero, which didn't find them "compliant", even though the DVD program and menu appear and play correctly on a variety of DVD players.

I'm wondering how this could happen, and how I can make them compliant so I can make copies.

JoeyK,

What type of files are they, are they MPEG's or Vob's ?

JoeyK,

I'm sorry Joey, I should have asked before, when you put them in a folder named video_ts or did you put them in a folder named VIDEO_TS ?

They have to be in the LARGE folder, the small one won't work -

OK, what else can you do ?

Do you have IFOEdit ?
You need to go there and generate a new IFO (information file) to go with your "Virgin" Vob's - this has to go into your large (Lg. type, that is) folder. let's see what happens when we get that far :-)
