Today, when putting a game into my Slim PS2, the orange ribbon at the back (just behind the disc connector) snapped, and now my PS2 makes a sort of grinding noise whenever it's switched on.

My question is, is this fixable. Can the ribbon be repaired, or do I have to get a new ribbon. Or is my PS2 unrepairable.

I should note that the ribbon doesn't actually look like it has snapped, it just appears to have come away. Can it be put backin place again if this is the case.

try looking at it.. does it have metal connections exposed at the end.. or is it in 2 bits?

I looked at it yesterday, and opened it up, and it wasn't in two parts. I put it back where it should have been, and it worked fine the first time I played it, but when I tried a second time it didn't work. My PS2 now won't read any discs at all: when I put anything in it doesn't start spinning.

Is there anything I can do to fix this new problem?
