Hooking an external hard drive to the 360

This may be kinda a stupid question, but is there anything special I have to do to get my external HD to work on my 360.

I was at a buddies house this weekend, and he had his Western Digital hooked up to it to watch movies. So I figured I'd try my Simpletech. Nothing. The screen with the various sources on the dashboard doesnt even show a USB device hooked up.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

you just have to change your input selection
If Memory Serves
1. Go To Media
2. Click On Video Tab
3. Select or Change Input
4. ( Make Sure Your hard drive has power and is plugged in also its usb 2.0 comptiable

Hello!

In order to make an external hdd to work on the 360 U need:

-(most likely) To format the hdd to fat32 or hfs+ witch the 360 can read.
Recomend u format to hfs+ so u wont run into problems due file size later on. (fat32 only handels files size's under 4gb)

If u format to hfs+ u need a program like macdrive or transmac to make your pc able to read, write the files on the external hdd. (cos hfs+ is Mac "product") There are free trial versions of both programs.
