Anyone know how to convert a 2 dvd disc movie to fit on 3 dvd5 discs?
When I rip the dvds they are converted to two 7.9gb ISO files.
Using dvdshrink with the first iso file I can get 2 discs at 4gb on one, the 2nd 1.7g.
How can I put 2.3gb from the 2nd iso to fit on the 2nd disc to make only 3 disc dvd5?
Im trying to use No compression w/dvdshrink...

What are you ripping with? Are you using a program such as the free VobBlanker or DVDRe-Make to get rid of unwanted material?
Basically I think that we need a little more information in order to help you with this. If you are trying to burn with no compression then you may as well give up trying to back the movies up to DVD-5. If after you burn the file is 7.9GB, then you are going to be out of luck.
I would suggest a free ripper found in my sig called DVDFab HD Decrypter. Then I would suggest that you use VobBlanker or another program to remove unwanted material. After that is done you can see what the size of the file is.
DVD Shrink may not be the answer here, you may need to use DVD-RB to get the job done and have a quality backup. However, even though DVD-RB has a free version of the software, without the use of CCE program or another form of a coder then you may be out of luck.

Okay, that still did not answer my above questions. I'm guessing that you want Terminator 2 the movie on a split disk? I know that the second disk is just bonus features. Why would you want to put that movie on 2 disk? That is a very old way of backing up movies. It can be done, but why would you want to when you could have crystal clear quality on 1 DVD-5?

Tried DVD shrink w/start/end cutting and removed all except main movie and audio. ISO size is 5.7Gb/ no compression so they only way to fit on 1 DVD5 is about 35% compression.
What is the best program to join 2 dvd5 iso files to recreate your DVD9 later when DVD9 disc prices come down?

DVDFab (pay version) can split your DVD-9 into 2 DVD-5 disc retaining menu functions and can also merge the files back together. I have never tried to merge back files that Fab has split so I am not sure how the menus would turn out though, if it even retains them.
P.S- You could always use DVD Rebuilder.

Use DVD Rebuilder if you are worried about the quality. TBH from 5.7 gigs with no compression to DVD 5 @ 35% compression doesn't really sound right to me. I think the compression required should be a little lower personally, but since I don't have that DVD I have to take your word for it.
You can add the original menus back with Pgcedit if you are that ambitious ~ http://www.digital-digest.com/~blutach/a...ginal_menus.htm

Have a movie on the hard drive(Terminator 2 disc1 7.9Gb) as a video_TS and trying to split it to 2 DVD5 to another hard drive(ISO) using DVDFab HD Decrypter 5.0.2.0. but when it gets to about 40% finished the program just terminates w/o and error message?!
Anyone experience this?
So I can use DVD Rebuilder to split this ISO to 2 dvd5 then?

No, you can not. Please read what LOCOENG said:

If what you want to do is split the disk then I'm not sure if VobBlanker can help you. You will need to purchase a program called DVD ReMake Pro. There is a trial version, but it will not create the backup for you. It is just so that you have the chance to see what the program does. I have it and have not used VobBlanker in over a year. Here is the link to the site: http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/index.php
Now you could see if PGCEdit will help, but I don't think that you can split the files, however, I haven't ever tried to do anything like that. Here is a link: http://download.videohelp.com/r0lZ/pgcedit/
With DVDReMake you may blank cells that you do not want viewed. Then you will have to do the same thing for the second disk. It's a little too much work for me, and I personally think that 1) DVD-9's are about as cheap as they are going to get unless BD really takes off. 2)When I use DVD Rebuilder with CCE I get a fantastic quality backup on a DVD-5. I can't tell the difference between the original and the backup. DVD RB encodes instead of transcoding as DVD Shrink and Nero do.
Personally this is the last comment that I'm going to make on this thread! :(

Ok Thanks for the replies, a few posts were short and not detailed, telling me to use DVD-Rebuilder when Im asking about splitting a DVD9, then another telling me not to use it?!!
Have only 1 question left, DVD Shrink only transcodes when there is compression, otherwise it must just be encoding since its so fast is what im gathering..

The references to DVD-RB were for your benefit so that you wouldn't have to split your DVD into two parts. I should have read the entire thread before making my suggestion as others had already made the suggestion
Quote: Anyone know how to convert a 2 dvd disc movie to fit on 3 dvd5 discs?
When I rip the dvds they are converted to two 7.9gb ISO files.
I'll assume that one disc is one version of the movie and the other disc is special features or an extended version of the movie. If you could actually get both 7.9 gig files onto one disc you are talking about 16 gigs of data stuffed onto a single disc and the quality would most likely be crap and unwatchable.
You can split the DVD with Vobblanker ~ http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/guid...tdvd9/index.php

Im working w/DVD-RB & CEE, since DVD-RB with the lossless setting gives me a 6.28GB ISO file(Too big).
Additionally next program is VobBlanker, as recommended by the experts, the guide link looks pretty good.
By the way, is DVDFab a transcoder or encoder?
thanks to all helpful participants...

i don't have this dvd either (there is an old thread here or two here for this disc which i will dig out in a moment) but i personally would use DVD-RB to encode movie only to one dvd, and the special features to a separate dvd. DVD-RB can work miracles but even it would struggle with squeezing 37 terabytes of data onto a single dvd.
edit- not much help after all, but here's an old link - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/667957
