I have seen this asked but never answered specifically. If anyone can confirm a fix or non-fix please do so here.
Whenever I load anything at all from a memory card of ANY size or kind, it makes the cute PSP tone and the colors move around, and then it just freezes with a white screen that says PSP in large letters. That't it. There seems to be no fix.
I have a Pandora battery and magic memory card, I have ran 3.80m33-5, upgraded to official SONY 4.05, then pandora's back down again, but nothing helps.
I have reset the flash, tried a nand dump (too late of course) and tried every recovery setting combo I can think of. Perhaps it is just hardware and I am screwed.
If anyone can help please do. I can access all the menus, use USB with no problem, WIFI no problem, everything is fine. EXCEPT that I can't load anything, games or otherwise because it starts and then freezes!
hmm...do you have the settings in recovery mode enabled correctly?
And when you are trying to run something from memory card, are you using normal memory card and battery(not pandora and magic memory)?
I've tried to be careful with the settings (currently on 3.80 kernel, UMD mode is M33 - no UMD (though I've tried the SONY setting as well). I've just formatted a new memory stick and tried it out with the same results. If you want to recommend any specific setting I would be happy to try them. I've tweaked so often that I just keep re-pandora-ing back to defaults and starting over...
One thing funny is that my UMD drive doesn't work correctly, it spins a bit and the red laser will go on if triggered but it will never find a UMD no matter what the settings. Wonder if that has anything to do with the issue.
Sometimes I juse wonder if it is waiting for an icon or something silly to load up and just hangs, but I guess not since I have updated and back-updated so often.

probably the problem is that something is wrong with psp hardware, something is broken...
Are you sure that you dont have fake memory card?if you are not sure then press triangle under memory stick then select information and then if there won´t be written MagicGate supported then you have fake memory card...
If you don´t have fake memory card then your psp is broken(some thing is broken or whateawer)..
