So i just got my swap magic in my mail.
I was so excited.
But theres a problem.
It wont load my burned ps2 games.
Okay so i downloaded and burned ps2 games.
I did it correctly.
Extracted the rar which gave me an iso file.
Then i burn with the dvd decrpyter.
I did write iso and i burned at half the speed of the dvd.
Okay so i inset the swap magic dvd disk and it loads perfectly.
Then i use a home made swap card and swap it. Put the burned ps2 dvd game in and then i use the swap card and put it back. Then i quick load game and then the screen turns black and jsut stays there. For a long time. May someone help me?
EDIT: Oh i have a fat ps2 if that helps

You probably not swapping out the discs correctly. Also why are you using swap magic with a fat ps2? Get the independence exploit

Its a way of taking over the PS2's boot sequence to load up HDLoader so you can play your games either burned or installed on a hard drive using a network adapter and an IDE HDD. You can read this on how to install it on your fat ps2: http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/94/62/
This trick only works with the fat ps2's.
OR you can install Free MC Boot, which is also another way of taking over the PS2's boot sequence "a slim or a fat ps2", install ESR on there which is an ELF application used to load patched backups. The only problem with that exploit is that you have to patch your backups before burning them. Here is the guide I've used: http://www.aoinamida.com/fmcbesr/esrdvdplayer.html
Since you already have Swap Magic all you need is a thumbdrive and of course an official sony PS2 memory card "although its been reported that other memory cards work as well, but not all of them".
In that guide there is a part where you need to load uLaunchELF. In that case all you have to do is make a folder on your thumbdrive called SWAPMAGIC, and in that folder paste the uLaunch ELF file in there and then rename it to SWAPMAGIC.ELF. Stick the thumbdrive into your PS2 and load up Swap Magic and uLaunchELF will automatically launch.
If you are confused about anything here is the source of Free MC Boot and ESR: http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/
Read their forums and click on the subforums about ESR and Free MC Boot.

i would go with the flip top for you since its your first time or you can buy a slide card if yours isnt that good or just go with independence.

Actually thats where uLaunchELF comes in. Its like My Computer of the PS2. It allows you to transfer files to and from a thumbdrive. You won't need a cable to connect the memory card to your computer. All you have to do is connect a thumbdrive to your PS2 with the folder SWAPMAGIC in it, and then rename uLE.ELF from the guide "uLaunchELF" to SWAPMAGIC.ELF and it will automatically boot up when you hook up the thumbdrive and load up Swap Magic on your PS2.
Search their forums a little bit. It took me 2 days to understand and study everything so, I did lots and lots of reading lol.

It's a flash drive with a capacity ranging from 64mb to 8gb that connects to the computer and ps2 through the USB port. Like one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208058
Just get a really cheap one or borrow one from a friend. I had a free 64mb that I got a long time ago and it works perfectly. You will have to format the thumb drive to FAT32 in order for it to work with the PS2. Formatting means deleting everything and the way you do it is to hook it up to your computer, right click the drive letter in My Computer and selecting FORMAT. Under File System select FAT32 and then hit START on the bottom.

You're welcome :) I highly recommend browsing the forums at the psx-scene here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/ and read through everything you can to understand how all of this works out. The guide I gave you is perfect and is what I used so hopefully you wont run into any problems. If you have any questions you can always register there and the community can help you out.
I'm also registered there so I'll probably drop by if you post a question :)

gah its not working=[.
it just stays at the swap magic startup screen.
Here are the files that i have inside.
DVDELF.bin [74 kb]
BOOT.ELF [27kb]
FREE_MCBOOT.ELF [276kb]
SWAPMAGIC [folder]
Inside the folder i have.
SWAPMAGIC.ELF [377kb]
DELETED THIS PARAGRAPH FOR A BETTER ONE.
EDIT: I followed this guide.
http://www.aoinamida.com/fmcbesr/esrdvdplayer.html
I did everything as said but i'm stuck at the part where it says
Quote:
Through uLaunchELF or some other means, run FREE_MCBOOT.ELF of your usb thumbdrive.
At that part i read some of your post.
I formatted it to FAT32.
I have a SWAPMAGIC folder.
I think the problem is that i cant find the ule.elf file.
I only have the BOOT.ELF [377 kb] and uncompressed BOOT.ELF [893kb] .elf files
I tried to do it with both the files.
But it wont work it just stays at the swap magic start up screen.
I have Swap Magic 3.6 If it helps.
EDIT:
NVM.
I read this.
http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/589...c-freezing.html
I just start it up as usual and then i restarted and now its at the menu thingy. Now to read the guide again=D
EDIT:
Okay now i encountered a new problem>.>
I installed it. Then i restart it, it loads and the logo popped up for psx i think then a bunch of colors pop up then it goes to swap magic startup screen then it disappears then a black screen comes and it stays there.

You mean the ESR logo came up right? Those colors are from ESR so its already working. I'm not exactly sure why you're still using swap magic

Did you patch your games before burning them? Also try resetting your PS2 if it stays black and make sure your usb drive is not plugged in anymore

Omg......
Now i have a new problem>.>
It nevver ends>.>
Okay so yea i patched the games it worked perfectly so all i did was start up the ps2 with the game in it, the esr logo pops up colors come and the game starts. So after i played awhile i saved and put in a new game, restart it the esr and yea it works. then i save it then i shut the ps2. go to eat then i come back, start up the ps2 and the normal ps2 stuff comes up... not the esr logo or anything. then the game loads and it just stays black>.> So i thought there was something wrong with the mc so i deleted everything in the memory card and tried to install it again but it wont work, well i press O then it skips everythign and just goes to the swapmagic folder with the swapmagic.elf in it. i try to go back to the place with a lot of folders but if i press anything it goes back to swapmagic.elf immedietly so i cant even click on anything. Whats the problem>.>

I would format the memory card and follow the guide again for re-installation. I think the easier way for you to launch uLaunchELF is to do it through burning it to a DVD and swapping it with the Swap Magic discs.
Here is a link to download it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q3F2W6RW
Extract this file with 7zip or Winrar and burn the ISO to a DVD. Now you can just launch uLaunchELF with Swap Magic by swapping DVD's.
