I have several large tube TVs they offer a perfect SD picture. I often go to peoples houses and not owning a HD TV myself get told I have to get one but then the picture is always appaling SD and HD doesn't seem worth it-SD vs HD isn't a fair comparison when there both tried on an LCD I own a PS3 and want to know if its worth gettin vantage point on blu-ray or dvd and/or spending £400+ on an LCD also I have seen HD tubes which are half as much as LCDs what are thease like?

In my opinion, and Im sure there will be many others..
HD is impressive, but not the revolution that the industry would have you believe.
Black & White to Colour,,now that was a revolution in video!!
From my experiances of bluray (and you are half way there having a PS3) it is best enjoyed on an LCD of 40" upwards with 1920 x 1080P resolution (full HD).
On my 32" (720P resolution) HD is better than DVD but not a step change.
For example, If I play a fully CGI film like monsters inc (and others) on DVD on my upscalling DVD player, friends have asked if they are seeing HD because it looks so crisp and clear.

As time goes by you will struggle to buy a CRT (tube) TV or get one repaired economically so your gonna have a flatscreen sooner or later anyway. How long you wait is upto you but dont bother with the advertised "HDReady" CRT tv's.

PC Specs: CPU-C2D E8400, M/B-P5N-E SLI, RAM 4Gig OCZ Platinum rev2 ,VGA- Nvidia 8800GT 512MB, HDD- Hitachi Deskstar SATAII 1TB, 250Gig Maxtor IDE HDD.
Corsair HX520 PSU, Liteon Lightscribe DVD Writer, Pioneer BluRay drive.

I find that HD is good on any sized screen that can play 1920 X 1080P if the source is true high definition. Many of the 720P sets that I've seen also look better to my eyes, and definitely better than standard DVD 480P. Although HD is decidedly better than standard DVD, standard DVD also produces good picture quality which has limited the wow factor of going from DVD to HD. When we went from VHS to DVD that had some real wow factor.
