Nero 8 Error: can not open output file

I was just installing Nero8 on my computer and when i start it, it begins to extract the files. it goes on to 95% extracting and stops and shows me this error "Can not open output file" and the installer closes.

i have no idea what to do =/ can you guys help me?

you give too little information for anyone to really give you good advise! but from what you say....can not open output file...... you might have a corrupt download file that Nero can't open to complete your installation or your drive is too full and it has no room to extract your file to! without more information this is the only reasoning I can come up with.

i downloaded the file from Nero itself, i got the trial version. I have 20GB of space left.

I kind of solved that problem by doing a system restore, now it unpacks and begins installing but another error screen comes up saying "Shellmanager database is corrupt or missing." what is a shellmanager database? and how can i fix it?

Microsoft XP: Home Edition
Service Pack 2
Pentium 4, 3.0GHz
1.25 GB of RAM
280GB of harddrive space, 20GB left (plenty of room)

how's that for more info?
