blu ray player doesn't play DVD-DL?

I recently used tsmuxer to convert a .mkv blu ray file to an avchd file and burned it to a dual layer dvd because of the file size. but when i played the disk on my sony blu ray player it only plays the sound but not the picture! some one please help me. i used the Convert MKV to AVCHD for PS3 and Blu-ray guide exactly how it says. so my question is do dual layer verbatim dvds work when burning avchd files to be read on blu ray standalone players? if so what am i doing wrong? thank you!!!
