Hi fellas,i have an older version ps2, the very first model, dont remember the model number ( installed a fliptop cover a while ago) . I have HDloader installed on the memorycard, and a IDE 160GB hard drive..but im running out of space, I bought a few other hard drive that were listed as compatible but werent for me, i cant really spend anymore money buying harddrives, taking a risk a.
I have a few 2.5 harddrives and external enclosures, so i had this crazy idea, im sure its been tried many times..I installed the Usb advance ISO on to my harddive, and i was able to boot usb advance off of hdloader..I first tried to use a flash drive , usb advance recognized the flash drive and allowed me to format it, but i couldnt install any images since flash drives cant format to ntfs, only fat or fat 32, so that failed. I want to use a 2.5 harddrive, but before i do , i need your help, as you know 2.5 external harddrives use the systems power unlike 3.5 externals, would there be any risk of damaging the system? the ps2 would be powering 2 harddrives, what do you think?.....thanks
Running games through the USB is utter failure and not compatible with the majority of the PS2 games out there. Its a bad idea altogether. Just make some room on the hdd you already have or buy a bigger hdd.
just thought id mention some hdd need jumpers set for ps2 to see them. i thought some of mine were all done but thats all it was might want to check it out
