I have been thinking of buying a 360 recently, and downloaded a .pdf file on how to flash the firmware.
1- this is the cover, can anyone verify that its contents are correct??
2- My pc has an intelchipset, so how can I identify which drive is in the 360 before buying to ensure it will work, with my mobo.
3- Is there any way to open the case without voiding the case???
as where I live barely anyone knows how to fix problems like the RRoD, and I'm worried that Microsoft might not accept my console if the warranty sticker isn't.
4- How likely is it for a newer console, eg. arcade version to get the RRoD.
1. most flashing guides give you correct instructions
2. Look at the ultimate thread at the top, there should be a link to pictures. You look at your DVD drive's tray and it will tell you at least what brand it is. No way to tell the exact model without looking on the drive itself
3. Yes, if you are careful and use a hair dryer and razor blade the warranty sticker can be removed and placed on wax paper. Then after you re-assemble it you can put it back on the console. Or just leave it on wax paper and only apply it back on if needed later (that way you can do flash upgrades without worrying about it)
4. Any console can get RROD. There is no predicting who will or when. But if you keep it cool and well ventilated you have less of a chance of that happening because heat is one of the main causes.
OK thanks, so from what you said, this is what I understand.
1- By carefully removing the sticker, I can still retain my warranty while also being able to run backups on live.
Therefore, if I get RRoD, and have the sticker on waxpaper, I can re-apply it and take it to microsoft with the flashed drive, and they will have to repair it even if the drive is flashed.
2- There is no way of telling the drive for sure without opening it, which means purchasing it.
Is what I have said above correct??
