Gamecube backups do not read very well on my Wii, but I'm not sure why. I was hoping someone could help me out.

I have a Wii modded with Argon on a Wii clip. All of my Wii originals and backups all work fine. My gamecube originals also work fine. However some gamecube backups have trouble reading. I've played Zelda: Wind Waker all the way up to the Wind Temple, and for some reason the disc won't read at that point on the backup. Mario Sunshine won't read at the point where you start playing (right after the first cinematic of the plane crashing), but the original works fine. Eternal darkness stops reading at the very beginning where the scary voice is reading something about the Darkness.

I've tried different media (verbatim, sony, memorex) and burning at the slowest speed available, but nothing seems to solve the problem (although the verbatims seems to read better than the other ones).

I've also opened my Wii and played with the screws on the DVD drive (maybe this wasn't a great idea by me), but by loosening some screws, I had actually gotten some of the backups to read at the parts where they usually stop reading. However I could not really replicate this phenomenon...it would work sometimes, but not others.

I have not updated my Argon chip since I have received it...the part that the flat wire to the Injectus usually attaches was broken off when I received it, so I don't think I'll be able to update the firmware if that's the problem.

Can anyone identify why me Wii is having trouble reading Gamecube backups? Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks a lot.

The early firmware on ARGONS had issues with reading GameCube games.

What install did you do? Was it 13 wire or 9 wire?

If it was 13 wire then I would suggest making sure the ARGON is updated with the latest 1.8 firmware. All the firmware below 1.8 had major issues running the game cube games.

You could also try booting the Game Cube game via a GCoS boot disc.

I've just tried to use the GCoS boot disk. The backups that I tried with the boot disk do the same thing as when I don't use the boot disk.

Does this rule any problems out or give anyone any insight on this problem?

13 wire or or 9 wire?

If you did 13 then you should make sure the Modchipip is updated to 1.8 firmware (you will need the Injectus to update).

Ah, sorry, I should've responded to that in my last post. I believe have the 13 wire on a wii clip and I don't know what firmware it is. I have the injectus, but the part of the Argon chip that connects to the Injectus by the flatwire had been broken off when I receieved the chip, so I haven't been able to update or check what firmware I have.

Heh, am I just not going to be able to play my gamecube backups?

did you try inserting the cable in and taping it down?

I know it might not be the best way of doing it but if you can get a good enough conection just to update it would'nt hurt.

How long ago did you order it? Why didn't you send it back?

I actually did try the tape thing. I inserted the cable and then used electrical tape to tape it down. On the infectus programer it say "Board: Not connected".

The injectus has a blue light on and a green light as well. The argon has a blue light on.

I got the Argon a few months ago or so (I believe it was in April). I didn't realize that it was broken at first until I found the piece that fell off after I installed it.

You do have the Wii on when trying to update right?

If it still dosent work you could akways try soldering small wire frome the leds from the back of the clip to the flat cable.

I do have the Wii on.

Errm...I'm not good at soldering, which is why I chose to use the Wii clip. But what exactly am I supposed to do? Wires to the flat cable? I wouldn't think that you could solder to the flat cable.

Any way would do as long as you have the connections soldered properly to the flat cable.
