I've spent awhile sifting through the guides and forum posts here for information on how to make use of a couple of game archives I've found myself with; Unfortunately, due to my lack of knowledge on the subject I can't pinpoint the pertinent info, so I'm gonna have to ask for help that's probably been given many times before.
The first gamefile is a series of rar files, i think, one of which ends with ".rar", with 16 others, titled ".r00" through ".r15". There's also a ".sfv" file and a system information file (no clue what this is).
They're all around 19 mb apiece, excepting one which is just under 10, so i assume they're parts of the whole. I've tried unpacking the one titled ".rar" (just experimenting) and it leaves me with a file that goes "gametitle.bin.ecm", a tiny 75 kb image file "gametitle" and an application titled "ecm". Suffice to say i have no idea what the hell this is, only that i'm looking for files that'll show up when i try to burn an image file using Nero. I'm told there's some sort of cue-file problem when i attempt to burn the image file i can get, but i'm guessing that's because i only have part of the game unpacked. What should i do?
The other game has but two files, gametitle.mdf and .mds
Don't know what to do with these, either.
Any help would be appreciated. I've done this before, but the games were packed so that it was bins and cues right next to each other, and nero picked right up on it.
Hmmm, well, i followed the directions, but only one of the files (for the first game) seems to respond to unzipping (I'm using 7zip) I still get the 75kb image file, the 529MB .bin.ecm file (game data?) and the executable unecm file.
I try to load the image file with nero, and it says again that there's an error loading "gametitle.cue". I'll try to poke around some more, but if this is an idiosyncratic problem, let me know if you would.
Thanks again. I'm beginning to think this is all well over my head; Burning the second game using its mds file with Alcohol120 was easy, but after having installed it successfully using the burnt disc, on startup the the game tells me it can't find the correct cd-rom. Ultimately i figured out that i needed to use a crack located on the cd. One down, one to go!
