problems with d2cKey from modchipstore

Hi, I am helping a friend install his d2cKey that he just received from modchipstore.com the chip has been properly soldered on the adapter "plug" or whatever
you call it. first off, original games still play fine, however i have over 30
"backups" that work fine on my wii which has the wiikey, but none of these games
will work on the wii with the d2ckey. when i insert a "backup" game it runs in
the dvd drive, the green light is on the d2cKey the red light will quickly flash
2 times but i keep getting a "unable to read disc" on the wii screen. i have
tried unplugging and replugging the d2ckey chip several times in an attempt to
make sure it is properly seated but nothing is working. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
the serial number on his wii is lu576915159 and it definatly has the d2c chip
onboard. any help/advice would b great

Are you positive it isn't a D2C2 modchip?

It will still be labeled D2C on the chipset even if it is a D2C2 drive.

Below are a few suggested ways to tell the difference between a D2C and D2C2...

The board number has AMX in the board#...




The board has 2 added letters under the board #...




The top of the drive spindle has an extra piece with D2C2 drives...




If you have a D2C2 drive then D2CKey will not work. You will need to get a D2Pro9 V2 with V4C wiiclip.

By the way your lucky you even got the Modchip if you ordered it from Modchipstore.com That is the last place you should be ordering things from.

ok, so it has everything you described EXCEPT the 2 added letters under the board number. does this still make it the d2c2? where should i tell him to order a new chip from assuming we have the wrong chip? i didnt know any better. i ordered my wiikey from modchipstore over a year ago and never had a problem, got it in about 1 week. this time around my buddy waited over 2 weeks to get this chip.

If the board# has AMX and the added metal piece on the spindle then he has a D2C2. D2CKey will not be compatible. I would get a D2Pro9 v2.

modchipstore.com was sold a while back and has gone down the craper. As well look at the price of the D2CKey. modchipstore sells it for $60 but ModchipCentral sells it for $23. Even tho your friends Wii is not compatible with D2CKey you could have gotten it at half the price at ModchipCentral.

I would order from ModchipCentreal. It is Canadian based but I get my stuff within a week to the USA. HERE is what you need.

it includes Modchip Wii-Clip and tri-wing. You can spend an extra $5 to get it soldered to the Wii-Clip. Just make sure you choose D2C2 when ordering so you get the D2Pro9 V2 Modchip.
