DVD-R : is a recordable disc (purchased blank, single sided with 4.7 Gb of blank recordable space)
DVD -rip : is usually a term that torrent uploaders use to tell people that the data was taken off a commercially made DVD

DVDR .... could have been recorded to a dvr's harddrive. Example might be a show on Sci-Fi channel that a person recorded to harddrive then upped the file to a torrent site.
DVD-R = blank media intended for dvd burners
