Hi, I know this has been discussed before but more in relation to protection issues. Right now, I am trying to rip someone's homemade DVD (home videos, not commercial products) and am getting the above mentioned error when I attempt to rip the full disc. Upon attempting to reauthor, I only get two main titles to choose from, and both are only 24 seconds, which is obviously wrong since the full DVD should be about an hour.

I also tried ripping the files with DVD Decrypter and it seemed to work, I got a VOB file that was 500 mb or so. But when I tried to put it through Auto Gordian Knot, I got a message saying that no valid stream was found, and it wouldn't import it for conversion.

This is a huge problem. There should be no copy protection on the disc because it was recorded onto straight from a digital camera, as far as I was told. The disc plays perfectly fine on my DVD player, so the footage is all there. It just won't show up properly when I try to rip it. Any suggestions? This is a bit disastrous.

Use FixVTS to attempt to repair the file structure and then proceed with DVD Shrink again.

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately, that doesn't help. As I said, I can't even get the VOB files onto my computer, so there's nothing to clean up. If I could get the VOB files ripped, I think everything would be fine. But DVD Decrypter rips the VOB files on these discs the same way DVD Shrink does...only the 24 or so seconds that show up as VOB 1, instead of the full disc, even though it rips the ISO file just fine. For some reason, neither program will read the VOBs on this particular disc, despite it being able to capture the full DVD as an ISO or play properly on the standalone.

Try Imgburn in read mode.

Your error indicates that there is a mastering error (corruption) in the video files located on the disc. It could also be that the files are on cheap media and your drive simply cannot read them and interprets this as corruption.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually managed to solve it using DVDFab. It ripped the DVDs and then I was able to re-rip them, so to speak, with DVD Shrink, and then convert them with AGK from there. Looking just fine now and all footage is present and accounted for.
