yesterday I got a D2pro9 with wiiclip V4c on a D2B
I tried playing a burnt copy of Mortal Kombat Armaggedon, and it read fine. Then I tried Lego Indiana Jones and it failed. It still played originals fine.
I installed another D2pro9 with wiiclip on a D2C and it played Mortal Kombat Armaggedon and Lego Indiana Jones without problem.
I then tried Galaxy Wars (burned) on both and it failed, and tried splinter Cell (double Agent) and it passed on both.
*The following is on the D2B since the D2C is from a friend's)
I then tried to play Mortal Kombat again (was able to do it 5 times with restarting and changing discs) but all of the sudden I started getting an error: the game would start, it will play the intro movies, and then it gave me a disc error, is always on the same place.
I tried burning Lego Indiana Jones again because the previous one was burnt at 2.4X (Splinter cell and mortal kombat both were burnt at 2x, so it thought that might be the issue), I burned it again at 2X. First it didn't work, I tried again, after cleaning it, and it started working, played for a few min, restarted wii, and the game wouldn't work again (after pressing start on the wii menu).
I am using HPDVD +R (I know people recommend verbatim and the other one I can't remember) burned at 2x.
I am using a lightscribe dvd writer that came with my laptop.
Wii version: 3.3u
I also used the utility disc and updated D2pro9 to 1.6. I changed the backup read speed and back up DL speed to 3x (what does DL stand for?)
and this time it wouldn't even recognize indiana jones.
I don't know what the problem is, well except for the dvd's, I am gonna get some verbatim later today and test it, but if someone thinks there is another thing I could test, please let me know.
A lot of the time, its bad media DVDs. Buy some Verbatim DVDs, its one of the best brands to use. "HP DVD +R" is not one of your best choices.
Try Burning at 4x.
DL means Dual Layer. Burning 2.4x. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the only Dual Layer game.
It is very possible that the wiiclip is damage. Try swaping the wiiclip to the other wii, and see if it works.
After dealing with several D2B models, the main thing i noticed (assuming everything else is well installed and backups created properly) that the laser pot needs a slight tweak anticlockwise about 1/8-1/4 turn. I recommend you measure the "ohms" of the pot with a multimeter before adjustment.
I have had disc read issues with D2B's giving similar issues that you have described.
K, so I couldn't buy verbatim DVD's because they were sold out everywhere. However my sister had Kodak DVD-R and I gave those a try, to my surprise, every game I backed up worked perfectly, i was able to turn on and turn off several times with no issues, I reinserted the game several times and it worked. Even teh game that wasn't read by both consoles previously.
I am using imgburn, this was what everyone recommended.
modsrusv: How hard is this to do? And what resistance should it read on the pot?
I don't plan on doing it until I can't read any burned games at all tho, but I would like to measure it nonetheless.
well i have the WII with a D2E drive it was just purchased this month. I then bought a D2pro 9v3. I have had a problem with the drive ever since the install( i believe every 1 gets this ) its no biggy just from a cold boot it takes around 1 min to suck in the DVD and read it... anyway i have been burning my backups with NERO 8 and using maxwell dvd -r . I have had alot of success with the games i have had a few which did not load... sometimes u need the update to play these games ex: mario karts the backup didnt work till i got the update, i had removed with brick blocker as you do for all out of region games. im curious why do some backups RAR so small and others stay 4gb or so? if you burn at 4x instead of 2x will you shorten the life of your drive?
