Hi,
I'm new to the forums, after lurking around for a couple days. I have been reading about the custom firmwares and was wondering what the 1.5kernal is for. I know it is used for emulators, but is there another purpose for them? Would it be okay for me to skip out on it?

Yeah, just ignore it. No reason at all to have it, since most homebrew has been ported to 3.XX or 4.XX kernel.
