I read a few of the guides here but I'm really not sure I understand completely, so if anyone can explain this to me like you're explaining it to someone who doesn't know ANYTHING about ANY of this (because I don't) I'd appreciate it.
Where I stand now is, I just bought a brand new daxter bundle slim psp off of e-bay because it was a steal for all the stuff I got. Thing is I heard these slims come with a higher up firmware that you need to do some sort of voodoo to get them on M33/etc custom firmware. How would I go about changing whatever firmware this has on it to the latest CFW of m33 (is m33 the best I don't know?)
I want to enable my system to be more powerful, I wanna run emulators and play ISOs on it. I read you need to do something with some sort of Pandora thing and some memory thing? Can't I just buy a memory thing that already has all the work done for me, where I just put it into my psp and can change the firmware to the one I want/need? I have access to a memory card reader, but I will probably need to buy a usb cord since I don't remember where I put mine at.
Okay, that's what I need to know. Sorry if I sound like an idiot, it's just I really don't understand how to do any of this. Please don't tell me if I am this clueless not to do it, because I really want to enable all that the psp can do with emulators and ISOs, so I really wanna get this CFW on my machine. I hope I am not screwed and can't add CFW, because I don't know anyone with a fatter psp. I really hope I didn't buy a psp I can't add CFW too or I'm going to cry. :(
Thanks in advance. If anyone is feeling very kind they can PM and we can start talking about this over some other quicker form of communication (MSN, AIM, Yahoo) so I can get real-time help. That would also be ace. Thanks everyone.

first off, what is the firmware you have on now on the Slim?
Some slims can't be hacked, so you will might cry....i hope not.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313#3685241
This guide will show you how to hack your slim psp.
You will need a usb and memory card. Since you don't know any one that has a hacked slim/fat psp, you will have to buy Pandora battery. And no, you can't just buy a memory stick with the iso and emulators already on it.
In this guide it will show you how to make a Magic Memory stick. It is required along with the Pandora battery because they both work together.
Once you have succesfully hacked the Slim, you can't use 1.50 kernel addons. You have to find a CFW and that's it. Look for eLoader and put it in your game folders and in the game folder put in your emulators. Hope this help.

Thanks for the info, I will update when I get my PSP, like I said I purchased it off e-bay so it's not here yet. Once I get it I'll be posting what firmware it is. I am gonna go ahead and buy a Pandora battery in the meantime and hope my firmware is not a version that can't be hacked. However, since these Daxter packs were released in 07 I'm guessing a lot of em come with older firmware than the newer release ones.
When I said the thing about a pre-loaded memory stick I didn't mean preloaded with the ISO files, I meant pre-loaded with the firmware files that I need to change my system firmware. I'll have more info in 3 days when I get my system, I'm posting this right now because I wanna find out what all I need to do before hand so I can have it ready when I get my system
Thanks for the info again

if you want to save the hassel of doing it all your self i would recomend this site:
https://www.bargainpile.net/sony-psp-c21/psp-pandora-battery-kit-v5-p71/
as you will still need a pandoras battery and if you dont know someone with a ready customised psp then you will ether need to hard mod or buy one

Nope, they don't come preloaded. You have to make them, don't worry, its free guide to make magic memory stick. The MMS has the CFW versions on it, but the guide will show you as well.
Come back when you have more info.

Thanks, I also have one question before I come back with the info on the firmware version. I don't have a USB cable for connecting the psp to my windows XP system, what cable do I need? Is it just straight male USB to male USB ? Or does the psp have some sort of other connector setup? If you have a link to an inexpensive one I can buy at a big box store like walmart, CC, radio shack, etc. It would help greatly. I already have a 1gb memory card coming with the system, so I assume I can use that for this one thing and then format it again for use with my system after the firmware update?
Also, I just bought a Pandora battery off this site, since it says it works for all fat and slim psp versions:

Hope that is what I need, if not I guess I could return it to them and say it's not correct, but it looks correct to me. Thanks again for all the helpful info. :)

the usb thats mini male to male e.g

if so then your set to go just make sure your memory card is between 256mb and 2gb or you may have problems making the magic memory card
then just follow the guide that JMobile linked and it will set you up for installing cfw

Thanks for linking that USB cable. It showed me that I did have one after all. I didn't know that the cable I got with my old digital camera was the same USB cable I needed for this. I looked at the pic and compared and its the same exact cord.
My PSP: http://www.amazon.com/PSP-Daxter-Enterta...19490662&sr=1-2
Though I got a steal on mine, came with 5 games, a headset, a case, and the original stuff that comes in those bundles.
Kudos.

Yes I do.

Says in the desc. 1mb stick, but obviously means 1gb since there are no 1mb sticks :P
The person I dealt with was awesome, he even upgraded my shipping for free to 2nd day air from ground just because I had good communication. 15 dollars for 2nd day air, can't beat that.
