why do the CFW on my psp require an UMD to start?

Hi!

I'm currently using the non-slim PSP and i found out that once i pop out my UMD (which is the game bomberman), the other games in my psp memory stick fail to start.

Somebody please tell me how and what i should do so that i don't require any UMD in my psp to play CFW.

on the main screen of da psp, press Select and switch UMD ISO Mode from normal to Sony NP9660.
Maybe that will work...

when i pressed Select on the main screen, nothing showed up. by the way i just found out that my psp system software is 3.40 OE-A. y my psp system can play cfw is beyond me.

any alternative solution to the problem?

try recovery mode
it works almost as the same as select only you can do a lil more with it.
dont screw around with recovery mode if you dont know what to do tho

my psp was bought this way. i do not know how to access to recovery mode. should i downgrade my psp and install fastloader 0.7?

take out the battery and put it in and turn it on and while turning on hold r and and change it to no umd and jmobile theres no np9660 in 3.40 oe-a only in the m33's

turn off psp.
Now hold the Right trigger button while turning on the psp.
It will take you to recovery mode.
now go down to configuration and press X.
Now scroll down to UMD Mode.
Press X until its set to say UMD Mode currently: Sony NF9660 - no UMD-)
Then go back up to Back, press X.
And then scroll down to exit and press X.
And it will reboot.

jmobile wth are you talking about dont listen to him terra you can upgrade to 3.52m33 then 4.01m33 easily just download the 3.52m33 package and follow the instructions www.dark-alex.com

oh and terra instead of np9660 look for no umd

yeah i have found and enabled the 'no-umd'.

the website u gave me is kinda strange and difficult to navigate around. do you have any other websites i can download m33? why couldnt i just download 4.01m33 straight away?

i have downloaded 3.52 m33 and 3.52 m33-4 so the question is can i upgrade 3.52 m33-4 straight away to the latest version 4.01 m33?
