I've been scanning through all the related posts on this site that I could find but I haven't found anything matching what I'm experiencing. I did however try to do all of the things that people have recommended for other issues. For instance, checking off "Run this program as an administrator", running in Windows XP SP2 mode, System Restore, uninstalling/reinstalling DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter, Nero 8, K-LiteCodec pack, etc...
Anyway, I used to be able to run DVDShrink perfectly on my Vista installation. Then today I got the bright idea to try and figure out how to convert my ripped DVDs to another format and read that DVDx is a good program for doing this. It didn't work and I uninstalled it, and then when I tried to run DVDShrink again it either freezes Vista or blue-screens/reboots Vista. I've got the feeling that by installing DVDx I changed some underlying library default or something? Is there a way to examine what's used and revert it?
At this point I'm thinking that reformatting might be my only option.

I lanch ccleaner, go to "Cleaner" > "Applications" > "Multimedia" , check "DVD Shrink" and then "Run Cleaner".
I also used ccleaner to uninstall "DVD Shrink", reinstall and do the above. Still no luck ;-(
Maybe I can just convince myself that I need to reformat anyway ;-)
Thanks for your help anyway.
After uninstalling dvd shrink, did you run the registry cleaner to remove all traces of it from your system? 'cleaner'> 'registry'> 'scan for issues'> after scan is complete, 'remove issues'.

Yeah, I tried it. There were a bunch of things listed and I ran "Fix selected issues...". However, when I reinstall and run DVD Shrink, it still crashes or freezes my computer. Thanks anyway ;-)
Oh, and I've got to add, this site is freaking awesome!!! Where have I been the last couple of years!!! So much great information.
