Hi guys, I've been looking into installing CFW on my psp for a while now and I'm about ready to try after i read up on it a little more.

I would have finished up my reading today but then something hit me; is there anything a cfw psp can't do? What I mean by this is, can a cfw psp still download games that have been bought on PSN? That type of thing. Also, can a psp be reverted to OFW completely?

Sry if these answers are elsewhere on the forum, I must have missed them in my search....

Anyway, I currently have a friend's PSP phat running 3.40 OE-A along with his pandora battery and my own PSP Slim, which I believe had factory installed 3.80 originally. I'm pretty sure I'm ok to start, but I noticed that the pandora battery does not charge and will not power the psp on it's own (it has to be connected to the ac adapter). Is that normal? Just wondering since I can't find a completely straight answer on that one as well.

Thanks for any answers you guys can pass along.

CFW allows you to play homebrew games.

Yes, its normal for that Pandora, but you can't use Pandora as a regular battery.

pandora is only used to flash a PSP.

Thanks for the pandora responce but I was actually asking what a CFW psp can't do in regards to legit features, ie remote play, PSN downloads, etc.

i believe you can do PSN downloads using dark alex's USB firmware fake tool

i haven't tried that yet myself though but he has the tool available for a reason...

i understand where you question comes from, but to break it down for you, its just to big of a question to get specific answers for.

but with and answer for your psn downloads. that depends on what firmware you download. 4.01m33-2 with dark alex's USB fake will trick the sony store from making you do software checks. thus allowing you to download demos, videos, and bought games from the store.
the USB Fake is a plugin, that when downloaded and installed. and you go into recovery mode> plugins, on your CFW, you will have the choice to enable and dissable.

there are lots of plugins out there, that range from allowing to enable/ dissable USB fake(for whats stated above) right to installing cxmb and putting themes on your MS, when you enable cxmb in your plugins, in recovery, you will have the ability to switch themes on your MS on the go with your psp.

(thats what i meen by your question is too big.)
im new to CFW but am pretty advanced with the use of plugins, so if you have anymore questions just ask away on your thread or pm me.

Im looking for new plugins to use. as well so im kinda in the same boat (except i have CFW).

best of luck though, and i suggest installing custom firmware 4.01m33-2

Thanks for the responce Wlp. I mostly asked because I wanted to make sure I would still be able to use the PSN in conjunction with my PSP.

Currently only have Beats, but I will be buying some games that allow remote play in the next week, and wanted to make sure I'd still be able to download them and have them work.

As for the cfw, I am currently planning on using the "GUIDE: Universal Unbricker V3 Using Official Firmware FAT/SLIM PSP." on this forum to do the install. That should guide me to 4.01 M33-2.

I did notice though that the guide doesn't use a PSP which already has CFW on it; borrowed a friend's psp to make the magic stick, but if I don't need it then I guess that makes the process simpler.

One more question for you CFW veterans, once I do the install (I'm planning on using a Sony 1gb), can I use a normal Lexar 4gb (which is the one I'm currently using in my PSP) or do I have to turn that into a magic stick as well? Thanks for the feedback.

"magic" stick is only for the CFW install...

you can use regular formatted sticks after its done they don't need to be "magic"... load them with ISO's and play for hours
