Hi Folks,
I sure wish that I had got to know this site before going it alone and following the advise by some guy on youtube to create a Magic Memory Stick and Pandora battery.
Brief details are, guy gives you a link to d/load Easy Installer, so far so good, he then proceeds to tell you how to run it to flash your psp. During the process he tells you to select option 1 which creates a 1.5 version of the firmware (unsure if it is genuine 1.5 or a hacked version). Anyway, moved on to creating the pandora battery using the wee tool thingy from datel and an official Sony battery. Everything was done as expected and so on. Tried to play games on it and only some worked and the majority didn't.
I then stumbled across this site and read the tutorial on how to do it and rather than select option 1 while using Easy Installer, it tells you option 4. You can then add some add ons to run 3.xx firmware. Everything seems to go on the memory stick ok, but when I put my battery back into service mode, and push it back in the power light is on as usual but no display and no sign of activity.
Is there a way to return the PSP to it's previous state as opposed to this v1.5 and start the whole process again or can someone give me advice on the bes course of action from here.
which is definitely a good one cause i used it on my new slim and it went perfectly... but you must follow it word for word not just skim and skip a few steps here and there...
You are correct, this is the guide that I used the 2nd time round, and I am pretty confident that I done it to the letter. I have now attempted this 6 times now with the same result each time. I am also sure it is not down to pc hardware/software as I am running XP.
Just noticed when trying to run through it again, I am not presented with the stage where it does the format or asks to name the the disk for some reason.
I start by selecting option 2 for English, the option 1 Continue To Pandora Installer
I am then told format the stick etc and press enter when that stage is done. I am then told to take out the memory card and put it back in and start USB connection and press any key to continue. I am then asked which Pandora. I select option 4 as in the guide.
At no time am I asked to name the new disk, it just starts extracting a load of files and dumping them on the memory card. After this is done, I am given the following message as opposed to the confirmation message that gives info (as shown in the tutorial) on the install and do you wish to close
Easy Installer by HC og Xi-Bit
Files Completed/Added by Xi-Bit

Rest and most, made by Noobz Team, Team C+D, Dark_AleX, Booster og HellCat!
Press any Key to continue
Tried and better tried. I have however, been able to get it to ver 2.60 now using official firmware from a old old game I have. I may now be able to run through the process again with no issues as it would appear to now be an out of the boxpsp with no messing being done to it.
Thanks for your help, and if anyone else has any suggestions, it would be much appreciated.
No matter what I do, I can't get the firmware flashed. It dumps everything else on the memory stick but will not format the drive/machine to install a more upto date firmware version. Now stuck with an offical 2.60.
D'oh, it says lite users are not supplied with the 4.01 eboot. Now, I have been told that there are a lot of fakes and potentially damaging eboot files out there. Question is, where can I get one that is relatively safe?
Got the stuff required, copied files, used my pandora battery and have the following options:
Install 4.01 M33
Install 4.01 OFW
NAND Operations
Hardware Info
Test M33
Shutdown
Reboot Device
I take it the first option (Install 4.01 M33) is the one I want?
