Hi all, I've fallen out of the hacking loop after I successfully hard modded my psp battery and got my slim to run CFW. My girlfriend is looking to buy a psp but with the news I've searched around on says there is an unflashable Motherboard out now (TA-085v3)? I've tried searching on the subject and just can't find a clear-cut answer...

Is there an unhackable psp that has been released as of now? If so...are there any tips on how to know what motherboard I'll be dealing with before purchasing? Thanks in advance guys, and apologies if this subject has been answered already

yes, the ta-088 v3 uses a different cpu, and blocks out all unsigned ipl.

there is no tell tale from the box. but the madden bundle is most likely to have the v3.

Thanks for the info, is there a way to find out what MB it is after buying? I assume just put in the Pandora and MMS and it can tell me?

you'll need pandora's battery and universal unbricker v7. v6 and v7 will work on ta-088 v2 boards, but will not boot at all on the v3 board.

AFTER you buy it you can go into system information and look at what FW it came loaded with... as long as its 3.95 or lower you should be OK...

Anything 4+ you are likely in trouble.

cee43ja1 I have a question regarding the motherboard. I have a friend who wants to purchase a PSP at a local walmart store and they have three different varieties to choose from.

1. Piano Black Playstation Portable
2. God of War Entertainment pack
3. Madden Football Entertainment pack
4. Daxter Entertainment pack

from what i've learned Madden has v3 therefore pandora battery will not work. Do you know if any other PSP is v3?

the other bundle packs may still have v2. but there's no way to tell from the box.

checking system software and using pandora's battery is the best way to tell.


and sony won't stop. they'll keep on redesigning if they have to. they're getting there with the new cpu's. that's why i'm glad i got the slim before it came out.

And when the 3000 series comes in, I bet even more holes will be plugged. I'm not saying that it will be completely unhackable, at least not with confidence, but it'll take time. Time I'd rather be spending with my hackable 2000.
