Background: Bought an HDMI Cable for my PS3 to Rear Projection HDTV...come to find out no HDMI Input in the T.V. SH!T
I do have Component Input back there, now would that give me the same quality output/resolution if i used Component Cables instead of the HDMI (Which is out of the question since i don't have the input on my T.V) or would be buying the Component Cables be a waste of my $$$ Chedda Cheese $$$ LOL--P.S yes that chedda cheese thing is a joke :)--
One More question instead of opening a new thread I have the 80 GIG PS3..Can I Just plug in a external HDD and just go to town, or do i have to format it kind of like the PSP w/ Mem. Cards. And Also can i Play Back AVI and DIVX Files off the HDD...Thanks Again Fellas or Ladies
Component cables will give the same resolution as hdmi, but component is analog as opposed to digital with hdmi so your picture may not be as vibrant. But any HD beats the hell out of SD any day.
The ps3 only reads external memory sources with a fat32 format.
It will play mostavi and divx videos. But there is a certain version of divx that the ps3 wont play, I forget which one it is but I've ran into it a few times so it isn't an uncommon occurrence. Avi files can be a bit more finicky if they aren't divx, you have to remember that avi is a container, it's the codecs that matter.
I have to disagree here, HDMI gives you a better picture quality.
I first had my PS3 connected via scart and whilst playing GTA4 the names of the players in the corner were very hard to read.
With a HDMI cable everything became crystal clear.

So I say HDMI is better than scart.
I agree hdmi is better but you misunderstood his question. He only has component or composite connections and not hdmi and he wanted to know if he should bother with component since he doesn't have an hdmi input for the tv.
