A while ago my Hitachi drive decided to stop spinning disks so I'm trying to just replace it with the samsung h943 ms25, and after hours and hours and hours of work I managed to finally get the drive key off of it using firmware toolbox. (wasn't easy, i had to manually spin the disk with my finger when it was finally in mode b haha)
We bought a samsung replacement drive before we knew anything about flashing/drive keys (which we've learned was a horrible HORRIBLE idea, we seriously had no clue what was goin on when it was delivered to us) and after many MANY road blocks I decided to suck it up and ask for help.
I used a USB - SATA connector in order to get my hitachi into mode b and so it could be read by Windows, I then tried using that same slax method and usb-sata cable with the samsung til I found out samsung doesn't work the same way.. So I read about this 0800 disk which I downloaded and put into my xbox, ejected after 20 seconds ago, plugged the usb-sata into my pc and windows still won't recognise it for me to be able to dump the drive key using firmware toolbox :( (I have read a cpl of times that i can't use the usb-sata for samsung, i really hope thats not true as we spent 30 bucks on it..)
I've read tuns and tuns and tuns of info regarding all of this and honestly its all starting to bleed together, I'm not very good at this type of thing and really what I need is pointers/tips/nudges in the right direction.
One thing I am tired of is reading all about "backing up games" I have no intention of modding my system, I just want to play my 360 games again and spoof the disk drive and have my 360 think the new samsung its my old hitachi.

I used a regular dvd r to burn the 0800 dvd and not a dual layer since I dont have any dual layer blank dvds here.. i figured that wouldn't be a problem though cuz I was only attempting that method in order to get windows to work and not to play burnt games.. but thought I'd add that here just to help whomever grasp my situation fully.
