I recently bought a Playstation 2, and naturally I wanted a chip in it.
I was told however, by the guy who was supposed to do the soldering, that the version was too new - there weren't any instructions on how to solder that particular version.
He said that they would probably turn up sooner or later.
My question is now this: How long does it usually take before instructions such as these appear, and are there any risk of them not appearing at all?
Are you sure, that the 90004 has the exact same chips (you know; on the board itself) as the previous versions?
I'm pretty sure, that the guy said, that it although it looked mostly like other version 18s, it had a few things he hadn't seen before, and therefore he wasn't sure it'd work.
He had searched the net for diagrams, and couldn't find anything for that particular board - there is, of course, the chance that he just didn't find this exact diagram.
Anyway, I digress - is there a risk, that this won't work on my particular PS2? I haven't been following the PS2 modding scene at all, so I don't know how much can change from one SCPH number to the next...
... and I know that the duomod team writes that the chip works with 9000x, but there's no indication on how old that information is.
I've never personally installed one of those on the newest versions myself. Maybe someone else here has? Maybe if you searched online for a "NEW" premod with the duo 3 installed that will answer your question.
