Nokia 6101 Unlocking & Newbie Questions

Please bear with me I am a newbie on this forum and also with my phone...

I want to be able to unlock my Nokia 6101 on a UK/Virgin Network so that I can buy a USA Sim card and use it while I am the the USA.

1) I am not very familiar with the phone (I went to answer it once and took a picture of my knees.... - stop laughing now) So please take me through it step by step.

2) When I have unlocked it, can I put the UK/Virgin Sim card back in as use it as normal until I change the Sim card to the US one?

3) Can I buy a USA Pay as you go sim card from the UK? I have heard thet T Mobile is the most popular in the USA. (Florida) Any other suggesstions?

4) With a US Sim, If I have friends phone me from USA landlines do we both pay charges? Do the credits expire after a certian time? I would like a card that does not expire and that I don't have to top up each month. Can anyone reccommend a website where I can buy one.

5) If & When I get a USA sim card (Mobile phone number preferred - I think I saw something that it would be a landline number) How do I go about activating it?

6)What is PTT ?? The manual assumes you know all about phones already.
