Hi All,

My PS2 (fat version) only spins 1/4 and then does nothing else. I have read many guides and tried all the various points. I have tried cleaning the lens with rubbing alcohol, cleaned the laser arms with it to and also re-greased them with clock oil. I have marked the laser level cog with a pen and tried reseting it with no joy. All the connections are in place.

While i was scrathing my head ready to bin the ps2 in the bin i noticed a switch that the laser pushes when its nearest to the spindle. I wound the laser back until it pushed the switch in. Once i do this the disk spins up fine. The browser shows the disk no problem. Once i click on the disk to load it, it seems to boot ok. Then it goes back to the browser screen. If i open the csd draw the cd will only spin up 1/4 of the way until i wind back the laser to push in this switch.

Any help of ideas would be of much value :):):)
