Hi, i have had this xbox for about 15 months, it is the old one without the HDMI port and has manufacture date of 2006-07-12. Anyway recently when i was playing gta online the live would disconnect for no reason -i did not change anything. Then when i was playing i got a blank screen, sound was ok but just a pure blank screen. It will start up ok with video but during game play at a random time it will go balnk for about 1 minute then come on again.
phoned ms they said out of warrenty £60 to fix it.
I was thinking of RROD it but not sure, has anyone had any success doing this. is there anything else i can try?

I would say that the ANA chip is probably playing up. I had that problem and eventually I had no video what so ever. I'ts a really hard fix if you want to do it properly as you have to re-flow the board. There is also one other way to fix it but its not a guaranteed permenant fix, which is using pennys or some small coins and putting them on top of the chip. As you will see in this video he shows you when he takes the coins off the ANA chip the video starts to mess up again : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdmjdFlrESs&feature=related . When you put the coins on the chip it applies pressure on to it making the broken connections join back up agiain, hence it works.
