Hi All
MONTH AGO
I'm have a few problems and was hoping you could all help, I have a psp which when i switch it on all that happens is the green light comes on NO screen nor backlight and then the green light switches off on it own after about 20 seconds, But every so often the laser drive will run back and forth, But it has just stopped doing that as well?????????
NOW
I have spoke to the bloke that gave it to me and he said he had dropped it whilst playing a game and ever since then its been like this. i've started looking about but cant find any real answer to the question.
i have a pandora battery and made a magic stick but when i put the battery in nothing green light comes on but nothing else
I a more then willing to strip it right down if you all think that is the way to go or try any other ideas you may have??????
CHEERS

If it doesnt turn on while on the charger, or while the pandoras battery and magick mem stick are in, then i think your magick mem stick isn't working. I've been through this process MANY times cause I get paid to, and this is a problem i often have, if ur on vista, that would be why ur magick mem stick don't work.

Right reading all your comments think i'll try making the magic stick again. It just seems strange that the back light don't even come on using normal battery, pandora battery, or mains charger (is this what normal happens on a bricked PSP).

How are you attempting to create the memory stick?

Biggest question is.....is it a phat or slim. If it's a phat I can almost guarantee it's a faulty power board. I repair many of them and usually it's the powerboard. Head over to dxextreme and pick one up for 5 bucks free shipping. Also, before you go spending money, disassemble the face plate.....wait, I just did a short video for ya.
HERE give it 20 minutes to upload.

yea, first i would make sure its not the memory stick... i do many repairs and that is usually the cause. once you are 100% sure thats what it is then and only then consider a new power board.

Hi, I just bought a used PSP on Ebay, and have the next problem:
-it works good, but after 3-5 minutes of work it just stops, pressing the buttons isn't making anything, and in a second it shuts down! after this it wont start for about 20-40 seconds.
Can it be repaired?

Your over heating. You'll have to take it apart and there's 4 small coils that look like chips. each one has a little slot in it for air. You'll need a can of canned air, just don't spray it too close cauase it doesn't take much to break them. The one that gets clogged the most is the one right under the powerboard ribbon cable that connects to the motherboard. The chip looking coil should have 4A7 printed on it. there are two more with 3R3. These are all under the board so you'll have to strip it down, including the board.

so you're saying this will help? and the PSP will start working normal after this?
ok, can I do it myself, or should I look for a specialist to do it?

Hi again
LATEST UPDATE
Had no more luck with the magic stick so i striped the psp down and with a normal battery in or the mains the green light now comes on + the back light and also the laser has started to move again.
But when i boot up with the magic stick and pandora battery still nothing but the green light not even the back light comes on???????????.
One thing i did was boot the psp up without the screen on and noticed that the laser moves back and forth but it looks like it over run its limit both ways as it starts to make a clicking noise then moves in and out like its trying to focus, when it stops the psp then powers down???????????.
Starting to think this psp may be f****ed
