I've followed this wonderful tut here: http://ngc.scorpei.com/GUIDE-SD_adapter.html

Works wonders. Except it doesn't work.

My main question or supposition with this tut is that he specifies an sd socket. From what I can tell, the only purpose for this is that it cleanly can be soldered and made lead to lead. Other then that, I can't see a reason to use anything but an sd adapter card. It's as big as a normal sd, with a slot for a mini sd. I assumed this would be okay, considering that it would do the same thing as a socket, IE: carry the leads to an SD card and still have it removable and not simply soldered once to the memory card to never be removed again. But, I only do this on the assumption that there isn't some small decryption chip in the socket. I assumed it just carries the leads to a convenient place for the SD card. Am I wrong? I ask mostly because I've already done this. I can't tell if I have a software or hardware problem. Anyone have a good guess at least?

Cyrus
