A lot of missing info here. What kind of files are they? What are you trying to open them with? Have you tried on another pc?

I have a question.

Can you view them on the camera??

If so. And you cannot view them on the computer you may have another issue.

Your card reader may not be able to read the card because the card maybe sdhc compatible.

Or.

Your card could be corrupted.

Did you send your camera through any airport security scanners???

The reason i ask is most of the problems like this are caused by magnetic interference it damages the memory cards header and all though you can read the pictures on the memory card via the camera you cannot upload the photos to your computer.

Any of these apply.

they still scan luggage.

But here is what i recommend get a usb card reader for your camera and try to access the pictures through it instead of your camera.

about airport scanners:

Theoretically a high X-ray flux will either damage flash cards or
create so-called single event upsets (change the value of a number
stored in a location, though the card is not damaged. However, as
long as the machine is operating normally the level of airport X-rays
is way below the level that brings this about.

The magnetic machines will NOT affect either cards or tapes. Again,
while tapes can be scrambled by a strong enough magnetic field, it has
to be VERY high, well beyond the capability of airport metal
detectors.

and I can tell you from experience of 8 flights from Ft Lauderdale to JFK (NYC)in the last 4 months, that all my CF cards are just fine and they have been scanned constantly over the years! I still have my original 212MB card that must have been scanned hundreds of times without incident from airport scanners! And I had casset tapes that never had a problem.... and I can't even recall ever having a problem with film (from my 35mm cameras) either!
