I may be a newbie, but I have done TONS, literally TONS of research and just cannot seem to find (or if I do, I don't understand) the answer to my question ...
I have Swap Magic 3.8 ... the flip top is installed on my PS2 slim ...
I CAN SUCCESSFULLY burn a backup of a game I have using CloneDVD and it WILL PLAY using the Swap Magic disks. That's NOT the problem.
The PROBLEM:
I have downloaded a bunch of ISOs from various sites ...
-- I have tried burning the ISO to disk with IMGBurn -- DOES NOT WORK
-- I have tried patching the ISO using ADR patcher -- DOES NOT WORK
-- I have tried extracting the ISO files and burning as data disk with IMGBurn or NERO -- DOES NOT WORK
I have tried many, many dfferent things as suggested in some of these forums.
I have Windows Vista, I have an 8 MB memory card for the PS2 slim, I have a USB thumb drive ...
I have read that sometimes you need to swap some file in the game file -- BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT FILE IS
I have read that sometimes you need to put a swapmagic.elf file on the memory card -- BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GET THE FILE and I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET IT ON THE MEMORY CARD.
I'm new to PS2 ... I am VERY familiar with downloading AND very familiar with converting and burning movies because I do that all the time.
I KNOW there is a way to download a game, but I don't know why it won't play!!!
The CLOSEST I got to having a downloaded game work -- I got a black screen (but NO "insert a Playstation disk" message) ... and I have NO idea why I got a black screen.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ...
I have wasted almost 15 DVDs now ... by the way, I am using DVD-R by Memorex.
Thanks. I will give that a try. Just got laid off from my job, so I'll have plenty of time to play and see ... I'll go by a small package of Sony's tomorrow and will reply back with results.
maybe your .iso needs re-building to make it fit on a dvd5, there's many a guide on how to re-build games here, try searching for gnies rebuilding tool
