Tryed 3 or 4 times with many errors. So i trying just booting to Windows (Vista), Normally. I find out my computer isn't recognizing my 360's DvD drive. Not sure why it won't see it. If any solutions or any help at all, plz offer.

Hmm, just read on another forum that Windows shouldn't recognize your 360's DvD drive. Hmm, can't get my DvD drive in Mode B. I'm thinking i might have the wrong firmware.

I Have a Hitachi GDR - 3120L / v0059DJ

Can i use slax 2.1 to get my drive into Mode B?
and will Unlocker 79 even work on my drive?

Sux you got a Hitachi 79K, think you gotta solder a modchip for that one, unless they recently found a different way.

Hitachi v79 unlock tool
>> A method is released from one of our members on how to unlock the Hitachi v79 in order to dump and flash with fwtoolbox...
Turorial:
1. Unrar the file
2. Burn the CD Image, I used ImgBurn....
3. Put 79 in Mode B
3. Insert the CD in the 79 and play the track, wait for it to finish...
4. Then press play again and straight away pause it, you should hear some noise
5. Eject the disk, using the eject button not the PC ( it does something different)
6. Run the the command in a command window
79Unlock h
// where h is the drive letter of the 79
7. If all went well bit 4 of (0x5BD) should be set and the drive should be unlocked
8. Drive will dump and flash with Toolbox...
9. This is a tempory unlock, (0x5BD) is in RAM and would need to be done each time you power the drive, although I've posted how to by pass this with the drive unlocked with a passkey.....

10. Has not been extensively tested but worked on 6 drives to day so far...

79k should be flashable using that Tut, pretty new. There's a Video on youtube, and www.360mods.net, like i posted earlier.

But my problem is i can't get my computer to "See" my dvd drive.

Not sure what i need to do...says "Disable Raid/Enable Sata in your BIOS", im using Vista, i think it was already set to that. Not sure, i don't know much about BIOS settings.

The problem is you are using Vista. It's problematic for flashing Hitachis. See if you can use a PC running XP. I flashed many Hitachis include a 79 in using XP Home, but any version is fine.

Get a PCI SATA with a VIA chipset. This is one of the most popular around because it's super cheap and works great. The only problems is sometimes they arrive DOA from what I hear.

No clue as to why you'd even use the 79 unlock n a 59Dj drive. If you can't get Slax 2.1 to get the drive into modeB (which does work with the right SATA chipset), I'd suggest getting the VIA 6241 PCI SATA card.

Again, you do NOT need a 79 unlock disk on anything other than a Hitachi 0079FK/FL drive.
