After announcing last month that it was stripping some functionality from its PS3 PlayTV device it appears that Sony has changed its mind and added back the ability to transfer recorded shows, DRM-free, from the PlayStation 3 to the PSP handheld as well as any other device that can playback MPEG-4 or 2. Cool! Now if only PlayTV could hit the US... :) Oh, and it can also record HD videos too, right?

I'm glad at least part of the functionality is back. Now....lets get it state side.....and let's make sure in can record HD programs!

Hmm...I'm not sure if it does HD. I've heards somewhere that it can't which is why PlayTV has been a turn off for me ever since.

I'm sure Sony will add HD decoding to it here in the UK when DVB-T2 (HD on Freeiew) goes live here in the UK. There is no need at the moment and the specification has not even been finalized.

In an earlier report....it was stated that HD support would be added via firmware update. We will see....
