How to burn a commercial DVD backup or format for itunes

If you would like to create a burned DVD backup of DVD movie on a APPLE MAC follow these instructions.
You will need MacTheRipper 3.0 R14m (I think that is the lastest version you can find online).
MacTheRipper's website has been shut down but you can still get the program off a torrent. Just google it. Rumor has it that the developer is looking for a new website without any legal issues to market MacTheRipper.
Also use Toast Titanium (8 or 9), or Popcorn to compress and burn your DVD.

So it works like this: you use MacTheRipper to strip the copyright protection and Toast to compress, and burn the files to a single standard DVD.

Handbrake is a excellent program to create a MP4 of your DVD movie so you can play it in itunes on your computer, AppleTV, and iPhone/iPod. But you can't really burn a copy of the movie in MP4 format because it will not work in a DVD player. So, unless you convert the MP4 file to MP2 (which takes FOREVER in toast) there is no option for burning with handbrake.
So in conclusion:
If you want to burn a copy of your purchased Movie DVD (for backup "wink, wink") use MacTheRipper and Toast or Popcorn (stripped down version of Toast).
If you just want a digital copy for iTunes use Handbrake. There are some programs that will convert MP4 to MP2 in a reasonable timeframe but they will cost you.

There are other programs out there but this it the cheapest and most proven in my opinion. I wrote this because so may people have not a clue, on what to do. Good luck.
