Is it possible to downgrade 3.95 ofw without a Pandora Battery?

So I have 3.95 ofw and I want to downgrade so I can get cfw
I read the guide here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/688507 (the post by kanelita) but I have not recieved any confirmation of it working.

So I was wondering if the above guide does not work, then is there any other way of downgrading 3.95 ofw without hard-moding my battery or buying a separate Pandora Battery. Thanks in advance for any help!

no. there is no way to downgrade or get custom firmware w/o a pandora battery if your running 3.95 ofw. but just in case you want to know this is the best place to get a pandora battery. it's less than $10 and really handy if you are thinking about hacking your psp. thats were I got mine from.
