Cant connect to LIVE after browsing the net

Up until 4 days ago i was able to browse the net then turn on 360 and connect to LIVE no problem.What happens now is i get a failed at IP Address msg?However if i don't browse the net,fire up 360 i connect to live no probs.I have googled,searched the site and come up with a possible problem;my HOSTS file has been altered.I reckon my HOSTS file is redirecting to another site...but I have SpybotS+D so it blocks the unwanted site.I'm a total noob at when it comes to PC problems.Is there anybody willing to help me out?
