I just wanted to post this because when I was looking for a solution online I couldn't find one.

This is actually using Xbox live but it won't cost you anything extra.

This is for people who want to watch divx files and are asked to get an update from Xbox live. What some people don't know is that if you don't subscribe to Xbox live you can get this update with the Silver membership which is included in your purchase of your Xbox 360. Just plug your Xbox into the internet and follow the setup instructions.

The startup is long and annoying but once you get through that getting the update is easy. Just try to play the file again. The error message will come up but now there will be an option to download an update. Just follow the instructions from there.
