lol, indienemo, if you like stangs we have a 90 model GT for $900. You'd have to pick it up, though. It's 5.0, engine runs great. Bad thing is the tranny is fried. Was my sister's first car and she let it run slap out of tranny fluid after it got a front seal leak. Doesn't shift into any gear now, but the engine runs great.

It would have been somewhere in the region of £2700/$5400, a year on insurance. And thats 3rd party coverage only...And my dad as the main policy holder (me as a named driver). The only way I could afford to run that motha would be if it had a nice economical engine butwe all know that aint happening either...12MPG right?

I would Divinus, but id have to pay to get it shipped over to the United Kingdom...And even then I'd probably end up uninsurable on that kinda spec car.

Pretty Close, It's a 95 so I only have the LT1. I would have gone for a 98 or later so I could have the LS1 but this one only had 29000 miles on it!! And I couldn't pass that up.
As for the sound I've totaly upgraded with a Flowmaster 80 series system. And hope by the end of the summer to have a duel K&N and 35% tint on my windows.

Actually I'd imagine that your more likely to get your stash lifted. If they see a nice car with tints alloys etc. they think its a boy racer lets give him a hard time... :)

Hi guys,
No posts here for a while... but, new wheels so new project.
Just about to go and possibly buy a 1997 Rover 620 ti turbo (16v 2.0l), specs= 0-60 in 7 seconds, top speed 143mph.
Just thinking what the best mods would be to get on this? Obviously it already has a turbo engine, so I was thinking along the lines of.... intercooler, complete weight mod, racing cam belts, ECU chip....what do you reckon? I was thinking I'd get the 0-60 down to about 4.6-5.0 seconds, unrealistic?!

Well one of the easiest ways to gain power on a turbo is letting it breath easier. Basically I'm talking about larger diameter downpipe, high flow catalyst, muffler, possibly header. Until you're ready to spend the money on a more capable turbo(and beefier internals), a boost controller and blow off valve will help. And to lengthen the life of the turbo itself why not get a turbo timer.
Basically "How fast do you want to go?" = "How much money do you want to spend?"

Im not looking to spend it like Beckham... If I wanted to spend thousands Id buy a Toyota MR2 TTI, or such like, maybe about £1500 to spend...

Another way to get more power is to upgrade the turbo, especially if it is a stock turbo. One of the guys in my cousin?s car club did it to his Volkswagen Jetta 1.8L Turbo and it increased his horsepower a lot, so much so that on wet roads his tires just spin on the pavement when you give it gas.

That was on slick roads, but yeah I would imagin you would get a fair amount of drift. But for front-wheel drives like VW It's a really nice improvement.

Im sorry to announce that I couldnt buy that Rover... as of the beginning of this month all insurance compaines have changed their policies...first time drivers now cannot drive anything over a group 7 car unless theyre over 21... oh well I geuss its back to my figure 8 circuit in my field... on a somewhat brighter side though, I did get a 1991 Ford Fiesta 1.1 LX... pretty pissy... but i plan to do an engine transplant, from the 1.1 to a 1.25 Si 16V....Below is the comparison chart for the two engines:
Ford Fiesta 1.1 (from mk3 fiesta)
Engine Cap: 1118 cc
Injection: no
0-60: 15.5 secs.
BHP: 55
Top speed: 94(!!)mph
Insurance group:6
Ford Fiesta 1.25 Si 16V (from mk4 fiesta)
Engine Cap: 1242 cc
Injection: Direct Injection
0-60: 11.9 secs.
BHP: 73
Top speed: 106mph
Insurance group:6

Also, I forgot to ask...how risky would it be to do this without notifying my insurance company... I know obviously that if I crashed it could void my claim. But I live quite far out in the country, and obviously because of my insurance status I wont claim on any old thing because of the excess and Im a careful driver so I dont plan on doing anything major.
My friend told me that the police have the right to check your car up against the insurance document spec. if they pull you and suspect somethings up is this true?
Many thanks

Rite I have to try and recusitate (sp?) this thread.. lol. Trading my 1.1l fiesta see other post, basically I made that into Rally Spec and now not even road legal :) but yeah... This new car ive got my eye on is a 1.3l Ford escort 1994. Low mileage 3 owners.
Anyone got any ideas how to do this bad boy up (Rofflers)?
Atm i was just thinking put in a steel mesh bling grille,
Stainless decat backbox
K+N air filter, lower it bout 60mm..
Any other engine mods that could be done?
Just to add that its a little more tricky cos it doesnt have injection

my parents got me a mitsubishi eclipse spyder 2001. Since i have gotten i have added new rims, sound system, and XM radio. I want to put something in it to make it faster, but since i am not the richest person is there anything i can add that doesnt cost over $300 and could add 20 horses or more?

For $300 you cant get much.. I think your looking at about 10 BHP increase maximum. For $300 you could get a second hand ECU chip off ebay, a decat pipe, and a K+N air filter. This might cost up to $400... but your looking at about 10-12BHP increase..
For about $400 you could also probably get a turbo/intercooler unit off a scrapyard landrover. Those things can kick out insane horses and torque.
For $400 you could also get your cylinders stroked and your ports polished.. this will increase your engine cap. by 200cc and also increase BHP
Anyone had a look at my question yet?

firs thing i'd do is wetsand the whole vehicle. put some good graphics on there, and wax it well. you could lower it a bit, and put an air dam/body kit on there. a functional wing and carbon fiber hood w/ functional scoop would rock. maybe some euro head and tail lights. low profile tires and ralley wheels, racing seats, roll cage, tuner chips, supercharger/turbocharger, big cool air intake, headers, racing ignition system...the list goes on forever, lol.

I dont have enough money to max it out.. That would cost maybe $10000, but I do have $2000!
Forgot to say it doesnt have injection.. so you cant to any chip/ECU mod.. Or Supercharger... No induction kit either... And a turbo would kill my insurance.
